VIPERS Available now!

Well, I am happy to announce the release of our newest Sci-Fi mecha, The Variable Payload Raider or the VIPER Suit, as the troops call them. Designed by digital master John Bear Ross, the VIPER has a modular chassis that can be fitted with multiple weapon and construction options.

There are 3 weapon versions in the first release of Vipers. MK.I-Mk. III. Also, for each version, there are 2 poses Standing and Advancing. That way you can pick your weapons and poses!

We also tried something new with these models. The models are entirely composed in resin... Bodies, sprues, everything... Now, why did we do that? A couple of reasons.

One.We wanted to see what would happen and if we could do it :) Honestly, they look amazing and are really easy to put together. They are pretty durable and we have been very happy so far with them.

Two. Metal has been going up and down alot lately and we wanted to start experimenting with new alternatives. As I have said, we have been looking into this and John, Jeff and myself have been taking notes and will continue to evaluate an all resin "mecha". We also have to look at shipping and a whole host of other things that have popped up.

Three. The price. Right now, each VIPER has a SRP of $6.49. Right now, resin allows us to do this. The Metal Price would have been pushing close to $11... so, we are going to see how this is received.

On another note, The VIPERS are also modular. Most of our HAMR Sprues and other weapons sprues will fit, so even coming out of the gate, the design options are staggering. That is the way John designed them. We may even have a contest on designs :)

Mighty Armies: The Army of Robin Hood

Well, I am excited to announce a new army! I have been bugging David at Splintered Light Minis for a while now to create us a classic Robin Hood Army. Anyone that plays me knows I like a good Shooter Army. Well, here it is! The Army of Robin Hood!

and here are the stats:

General 7 4” 6,2 General, Shooting 2

Tuck 5 3” 3,1 Spellcaster

Archers x4 16 3” 2,2 Shooting 2, Long Range

Rangers x3 12 3” 2,2 Shooting 2, Scout

Woot! Pretty cool huh?
The box also contains an extra unit so you can have Tuck or a 4th ranger or archer but not both. If you drop Tuck, you can add Long Range to the General.

A Walk in the Dark is a fast-paced set of skirmish rules for battling Nazi Zombies in a long forgotten bunker in South America. Designed for our 15mm miniatures line, these rules are based on the award-winning Chain Reaction system by Two Hour Wargames.

Players control a group of mercenaries on the run and trying to find an escape through an old abandoned (or is it?) Nazi bunker. Rebel Minis Unleash BUGS!

Wow! It has been a pretty good week for news over here are Rebel HQ. Well, to keep things going, I have some new packs to show you that are up on the site.. Bugs.. and plenty of them.

Terror-Mites

These evil alien bugs want nothing more than to destroy all those that oppose them! Each pack contains 5 Terror-Mites. The legs are also designed so that you can bend and pose them! These are great for any of your sci-fi or horror settings and perfect for 5150: Star Army. There is a section in the back for the stats, so these guys are ready to go!

Death Striders

These small but deadly alien bugs like to attack in swarms.They are alot like spiders... from space. But mean... real mean.... like Space Spider mean. Each pack contains 10 Death Striders. These are great for any setting, even Ancients (Just seeing if you are paying attention here).

Ripper Worms of Selenus 4

Ah yes, the famous Ripper Worms of Selenus 4. Nasty things.Known for there vicious appetites and love of human flesh, these worms are deadly predators! Perfect for your sci-fi setting on modern horror game! We are still waiting on the molds to be done on these but I expect them in about a week. They will be a major part of my Star Army Titan campaign. These guys were sculpted by Daniel Martinez of TMP fame!! Nice job man!

Oh, and all of these bugs were painted by paintmaster Jeff Racel.. of studio Jeff Racel... of the Clan Racel... there can be only one.

Sneak Peek: VPR(Viper) Suit

I am excited to show you a new vehicle/mecha we have coming out. Designed by John Bear Ross, it's the VPR Suit!

The Variable Payload Raider, or the Viper Suit, as the troops call them, is a modular chassis that can be fitted not only for hard vacuum or hostile environment combat, but also construction, mining, and exploration. Light, sturdy, easily maintained, and able to be fitted with weaponry from EF, Titan, or any other faction. Take a look at some of these pics from the workbench.

We have a bunch of sprues planned with some variants of the body as well. Each box set will have 2 leg types, advancing and stationary. You will get 2 sets of Sprues that will give you alot of options in your build.

The masters are at the casters now and I hope to have them up in the middle of December if we are lucky!

Friday Greens: Medieval Greens and Deep ones!

Ok, first off, let me get this out of the way. I am A HUGE fan of EBob Miniatures. His animals and 28mm Rebellion line are amazing. I mean, Amazing! Well, as I was working on my Medieval Line, I decided to drop him a line to see if he would be interested in doing some of my 15mm Medieval stuff. Well, I am thrilled to annouce that he agreed and I have some of the first pictures of Greens!

Bob, sculpted us some great horses and some incredible figures. I hope to have more images soon! Can you tell I am excited? :)

As most of you know, we are doing a 15mm Pirate line for our Mighty Armies universe. While I was gone, Bobby Jackson sent over some sculpts for the Pirate Monster book. The book, called, "Here There Be Monsters!" will feature all kinds of Pirate and sea going monsters. Bobby just finished the greens for these:
The Deep Ones.

These will be perfect for a Monsters army or your pulp games! The arms will be thin enough to come up with alot of poses.

Well, it is finally here! We have released the Day of the Scourge Box set. This is a box set featuring our figures based on Two Hour Wargames 5150 universe. A couple of years ago, Ed and I worked on stats for my Scourge figures to play in the 5150 universe. We published them as a free download.

Well ,the Scourge have been really popular lately so I sat down with Ed to create a box set and a mini-campaign/scenario system. Mighty Armies: Attack on Bad Rock Castle

So my brother was in the mood for some Mighty Armies. We decided to do a big Siege battle using my Miniature Building Authority castle. We had to make some House rules to cover the assault on things like the main gate and cover for the defenders. This is a big castle so we needed alot of options.

Scott took the alliance of Wild Elves(2 Armies)and the Swamp Dwellers. I took the Dwarves and my Robin Hood Army.
As a defender, I also got this Scorpion Artillery. Here it is over the main gate with the Dwarven General.

As we started, Scott won initiative, so the Elves and the Swamp Dwellers archers moved forward and lay covering against my defenders. He wanted to get his Lizardmen to start bashing the gate.

I had some bad rolls, so they got up to the walls. I had to move my crossbowmen back behind cover, I was getting alot of heat.

My General was not happy :( But I did take out some units with the Scorpion!
I had no Spellcasters on the wall. That was a mistake.

As Scott's Giant Lizardment broke through the gate, I got a lucky shot off from the tower and killed them :)
then I sprung my first trap.. Murder Holes! MUHAHAH

While he was trying to bash the inner gates, I was raining death on him! I had a Minotaur on the other side, ready to pounce. In Scott's best Borimir voice he said "Oh, they have a Minotaur..." lol.

The dead started pilling up.

About this time, I had some crappy rolls and he was all sixes. So he got his Wild Elf General in the gate with a pretty good supply of units.

Only to fall into my second trap, The Killing box! My dwarven warriors were ready and I also have Frair Tuck slinging magic like a mad man!

I also rolled very well on my general rolls and had enough points to flip my wall archers to fire in the courtyard. It was a slaughter. If I had not rolled well, It would have been bad, real bad :)

While we were fighting it out inside he was trying to sneak some units in the beggar's gate.

But he rolled poorly and they were stuck out I the open to die. At that point, his remaining Generals called off the attack and slunk back into the woods!

All in all, a great game. There were many times it could have gone either way. We are building up a campaign, so I hope to have more reports soon!

A Lego Pirate Mighty Army

So most of you know that we have a game called Mighty Armies and that we focus on 15mm fantasy armies. You can see more MA stuff at http://www.rebelminis.com/ (hint, hint). What you may not know is that my daughter and I collect Legos. We love them and have been doing for a while. I even take Legos in trade for Rebel product(again with the Hint).

Well, I come home this week from the real job and my daughter says she wants to play a game of MA and try her new army. I go upstairs, change and when I come down, this is on the table:

I see my wife is grinning ear to ear, so I tell my daughter that I don't have any army to fight her pirates with.. so she says, "duh Dad! You have to go build one!"

So as of now, I am on a quest to build the first Lego Fright Knights Army. These guys from the the late 1990's

Soon my army shall be complete and I shall rule all of Legoland! MUHAHAHAH! **

**I just hope she has not allied with the dreaded Capt. Sponge of the Isle of Squarepants!

Pirates of the Black Sea: Sea Witch Master

Well, we are back from Nashcon... What a blast! It was great fun seeing all the gang! I think this was one of the best NASHCONs I have ever been to. The Staff was awesome, the games were great and everyone was having a good time. We had our first Mighty Armies tournament and things went great. Here is a list of our winners!:

Sneak Peek Friday(er, Tues): Black Sea Pirates!

Ahoy! I was holding these for Friday but after seeing them in person, I had to post them! We have been working with Martin on a new army for Mighty Armies and something with a Historical/Fantasy feel as well. Well, I am happy to announce we have gotten our first greens in on the Black Sea Pirates! We still have some more work to do, but I thought I would let you guys get a sneak peek of the first batch! So here we go... Arrgggh!

Mighty Armies Fantasy Released!

Well, they are finally here! We proud to announce that we have released Mighty Armies Fantasy rules!

In the new version of Mighty Armies, you will be able to build your own armies from any miniatures available, so your choices in an army are endless. There are also new spells, commands and abilities! This set of rules also comes with missions, siege rules, and a campaign system! Each battle will take around 20 or 30 minutes, but it takes a lot longer to actually master the game and become an expert at Mighty Armies!

Right now, only the PDF is available for $9.95 USD but we should have printed copies in about three weeks. You can see the PDF http://www.rebelminis.com/.

Besides the original box sets, we are creating and working with Splintered Light Miniatures to create a ton of new armies. Back from Recruits!

Well, I am back from Recruits. Recruits is a wargaming con just outside of Kansas City. It is put on by the Lee's Summit High School and headed up by Duane and Laura Fleck. Let me tell you something. If you ever want to go to a show with alot of energy and excitement, you must go to Recruits. Everyone there is awesome! I can't say enough about the staff! Thanks for inviting me!

I set up with David from Splintered Light Minis and we ran demos of the new Mighty Armies rules and they were a big hit. We even had a game between David Y. and Doug that was a real nail biter! We all thought David had it locked up and BLAM, Doug's Wood Elves strike back and win.

I also got to meet some cool customers and even got to talk with "Smart Car" Donnie!

Donnie is very famous in that part of the country (Seriously Folks, this was one of those you had to be there things...)

I even got to meet and watch a Tomorrow's War game by the TMP Favorite Combat Wombat! I wish I could have played, but we were pretty busy at the booth. All in All, a great time!

I am back this week and working on shipping out back orders.. whew!

MATV Comanche!

Well, I just added a new Sci-fi vehicle! The "Comanche", MATV vehicle. Sculpted by design master John Bear Ross, This 15mm scale All Terrain Vehicle comes with 4 assault gun options and a Turret. Perfect for "hot" LZs and engaging light armor targets and RECON. we have some more MATV designs coming up and even a variation of a near future Humvee! These were painted by the awesome Jeff Racel!

Villians!
Besides all of the snow down here in the South, we got in some new Greens! Pierre Francois Jacquet(PF) said that we needed some Villians, so he went back to his secret lab and , Poof! Here they are!

These Kick Ass! I really dig these guys and I especially like the guy with fireballs in his hand. John Bear Ross was the project lead on these guys and I have to give him all the credit on these Super Hero/Villian packs. We have alot more planned and some other Super News later on!

Pulp Hollywood Natives
While developing the Pulp line, we went to Ed @ Two Hour Wargames who does the Larger Than Life Game . He suggested that we do some Hollywood Natives. I contacted Adam Gayford and he created this master.

The Natives will come with the Shield and full "Pulp Hollywood appeal!" We plan to have a pack with about 12 or so. He reminds me of the natives in the old King Solomon Mines Movie.

We'll have some more greens to show this week if I can dig out of this snow...

New 15mm Weapon Sprues

We are always working on new ideas from suggestions from our customers. We have had alot of requests for 15mm weapons sprues. John Bear Ross has taken up the challenge and created these weapons sprues. These can be used for customs, terrain and all kinds of things. These will be small, but really detailed.

-The rifle called Rifle 1 is the same as found on the Model Nine sculpts, with a small bit of updating.

-Rifle 2 is the same rifle, minus the under-barrel grenade launcher.
-SAW 1 is the Model Nine rifle, but with a heavy barrel, folded bipod, vertical foregrip, and ammo drum.
-The Heavy 1 laser is also the same as found on the Model Nine heavy weapons gunners.
-Heavy 2 is basically the shotgun from hell, firing explosive grenades just like the XM-25.
-Heavy 3 and Heavy 4 are based on the XM-25 grenade launcher (google it. neat piece of ordnance).
-Pistol 1 is reverse-engineered from the Infiltrator pistol.
-Pistol 2 is a cut-down Model Nine rifle.
-Pistol 3 is a cool classic Sci-Fi anime style gun.

Sneak Peek Friday!

So this week I have a new green to show you and an older green that is about ready to be released.
First up, we have the new Armored Trooper. This is a master we have been working on that features a "tight armored" shell. With is guy we wanted something a little streamlined and not has bulky.

Martin sculpted this and did a great job. We'll have some variant poses and some other weapons choices for these guys.

GILA (Hee-Luh)If you have been following this blog, you've seen this before. This is the Earth Force GILA dune buggy. John Bear Ross did this a while back but we have been tweaking it and designing some new stuff. The GILA will come with 2 Driver choices, EF or Sahadeen and features 3 weapon choices that mount to the top deck.

You can see the weapon sprue and the Sahadeen Driver in the picture. I hoipe to have them in a couple of weeks and will let everyone know.

Sneak Peek Friday: Pulp Madness!

This Friday I have a special treat. We have been working with Two Hour Wargames on some new Pulp sets for thier Larger than Life rules. We have alot of box sets planned and the first one, Well of Souls, will be out soon. While we are waiting on the casting, Martin sent us some new greens of an upcoming set.

15mm Pulp

First up we have a digger and a bearer. You always need some good workers (bait) on your expedition.

Next we have a portly Foreign Legion Soldier, a British Soldier and a Native with a musket.

We'll be using these for an adventure soon. We wanted to make some models with alot of Character. I especially like the fat Legionnaire. It looks like something straight out of Hollywood :)

Sneak Peek Friday: Supers and 6mm

Well, it's Friday and I have some more sneak peeks at some greens. This week is a little different. This week we are going to show some greens from two new categories we are starting. Our main focus is always 15mm sci-fi and modern/horror, so to change things up a bit and for some new experiences, I am glad to announce these new categories.

15mm SuperHeroes and Villians
We don't have a name for these guys yet, but we will have some soon. My background is in comics so I have always had a warm and fuzzy for the whole comic books scene. These are sculpted by an amazing sculptor named Pierre Francois Jacquet. They kick-ass.

We have not decided who is a good guy and who is a villian. It is tough choose. If you guys have any suggestions.. let us know! I'll also have a scenario later for Supers vs Zombies.

6mm Sci-Fi
I think most people have seen our 6mm stuff, but as we get closer to launch, I thought I would show the infantry. Right now we have Sahadeen and Earthforce but will hopefully have the Titans an Scourge as well.

15mm BIO-Grunts
We already have some armed Bio-Hazard guys in out current modern line, but nothing with a near future/post apoc look. For one of Two Hour Wargames new games, I, Zombie, we created these guys to work with the High-Tech surviors(think Res-Evil). I mean, not everyone has to live in a shanty town when the world goes to hell :)

Sneak Peek Friday

Well, it's time for another Sneak Peek Friday. I just got some new stuff in that I'd like to show you.

First up. One of our new Character packs, Irish Hitmen.

Sculpted by Bobby Jackson, these will be part of the Modern Havok Line.

Next up, The 5150 Alien pack.

These are Aliens straight from the 5150 Universe. The 15mm Pack will contain 1 Razor, 1 Grath and 3 Hishen. Sculpted by Bobby Jackson, this is the first pack of many to support the 5150 line of rules.

Next is the new Infiltrator Bike.

We have not decided yet, but it may not come the base. It also comes with mountable gatlings. Sculpted by John Ross. Seriously, I have said it before, the John is like a Jedi of 3-D sculpting.

And finally, here are the new Homeguard Heavy Weapons

Well, there ya go! Hopefully these will be ready soon. Most of these are getting ready for molds, but I will update you when you are ready.

Hell's Kitchen BATREP

So my brother Scott and I got to do some gaming this weekend. Lately, we have been playing Modern Havok, the modern Skirmish game we are coming out with soon. It is based on the Two Hour Wargames Chain Reaction System. We both play All Things Zombie alot, so this was easy to pick up. We went with a bank robbery scenario and Scott chose the robbers as gangers. I was playing law enforcement, so I went with some 3 regular beat cops and 3 SWAT with the higher reps.

We called this Hell's Kitchen.

This is a shot of the Board. It is a 2x2 and everything is mounted on the square. It makes it easier to pull out quickly and get into the game. I have more boards I am working on that will slide into this for a bigger map.

Here Scott pulls up across from the bank and rushes in. He leaves the Driver in the vehicle and has a lookout across the street from the bank. There are no suspicious moves made yet, so I don't activate.

Officer Dano activates and starts to investigate the parked car.
Back up is a block away at the Red Dragon Martial Arts den.

As he moves up to the car, he rolls his insight test and passes both, but the Ganger lookout Panics and snap fires. All Hell is breaking loose. Dano starts taking fire and is forced to duck back but is HIT and Stunned!

Back up arrives and have blocked off the road. Scott doesn't activate and it allows me to call in the SWAT. Who have aparently a crappy driving skill :)

The firefight has gotten ugly. The Gangers are exiting the building and with a few lucky shots (I mean, the guy was dancing through a storm of bullets) a ganger shoots Officer O'Malley... DEAD.

Now it's On Like Donkey Kong! Gangers start dropping and two gangers make a break for it down an alley past the 7- Eleven.

It was about this time, Scott brings out his Leader, out of the bank with a HOSTAGE! We immediately call a cease fire. Dead hostages are a bad thing.

While the stand off was going on, the two punks were still trying to make a get away. I sent two SWAT to intercept and got an in-sight on them as they ran across the parking lot. Braaap! One ganger is down! But not before a SWAT member is Knocked down. :(

My SWAT team member then moves into posistion behind the gunman and the hostage. He is given the word and , Pow!, the gunmen is killed(obviously Dead) and the hostage is freed.

Just another day in Hell's Kitchen.

We had a great game. Afterwards scott and I agreed he should have used the vehicle to ram the cop car and gotten his gangers out faster, but he was seeing what I was going to do and once the SWAT arrived, he was outta options. He did have one ganger make it off the board who has sworn his revenge!

Well, as most of you know, I have been pretty busy lately. I am jammed up at the real job and by the time I get home, I am worn out. That being said, I finally got some of the new packs inked and up on the site for ordering. I am going to try and get some painting done this weekend.,.. I hope :)

So, here are pics of the new stuff and some ramblings.

We did these guys for an upcoming Two Hour Wargame box set for the Larger Than Life System. I have been playing alot of Pulp lately and I love it. It's a nice break from the modern and Zombies.

Raptorz and bugs!

I was pretty excited this week when Jake sent over the painted Raptorz. I have wanted an mindless( or are they? ) alien life form to hunt down my sci-fi humans, and these guys are awesome. When I saw Jurassic park for the first time, I could not get over how fluid the Raptors in the movie were, so I kept this in mind when we designed the Raptorz.

A lotta trouble headed this way!

Ed over at Two war Games is working up the Stats for them now, so expect to be able to add them into your 5150 First contact scenarios soon.

Sneak Peek: WARbots

A while back, I went to John (Bear Ross) with an idea for some armored troops. What started out as "Power Armor" soon, with the help of people like Mark and Eli from Dropship Horizon, became WARbots. Our answer to near future military war robots. Here's a few shots:

In comparison to to the Earth Force HAMR. The WARbots are around 25mm Tall.

Swamp Dwellers Mighty Armies and HOTT Army

I have had these for a while but just got around to getting them ready for production. I wanted a cool lizardman style army, but wanted something with a different "look". I contacted Simon Summers and came up with these guys.

The two big giant lizardmen in the back were sculpted by Rodrick Campbell. Once we had the look, we needed a name. Ben Rodmen came up with the name Swamp Dwellers.. and I like it!

Back from the Show!

Well, we are back from Origins! We had a great time and it was a pretty good show. We were set up next to Splintered Light and right down the way from Two Hour Wargames. We are busy working to get all the orders out but I thought I would show you some pics from the show.

New HOTT(Hordes of Things)/DBA Armies

I get alot of requests for army packs. Mostly for Mighty Armies but sometimes for HOTT/DBA. I am not really familar with either system, so I usually rely on someone with much more knowledge on those systems. That someone is Mike Demana. Mike has been a huge help answering my newbie questions and explaining to me the ins and out of HOTT/DBA system. I am actually learning to play from my friend Grey Strickland, so I might be able to one day challenge Mike :)

New Greens!

I am always a little tired when I get back from shows. I have to unpack the Truck and start packing orders that came in over the weekend. While I was going through the mail I found a box from Rodrick Campbell with some of my new greens in it! Rod was one of the first sculptors I used and his stuff is always amazing. Check out the Splintered Light website here to see more of his stuff.

We are building some sets for Two Hour Wargames Adventures in the Lost Lands, so I told him I needed some adventurers.

Boy, they look Great! I am also updating my Red Ops 5 zombie line and really need an pack of military specialists. Sort of a Rainbow Six meets Resident Evil feel. So Rod equiped some of my SWAT guys and gave them more of a Hollywood/Video game feel. These guys will be perfect as Coropration baddies or as an elite assault team.

I hope to have these packs ready in the next couple of weeks..

5150: First Contact- The Lion's Den Scenario

I never buy anything for myself. There are very few things that I just want. Well, today I got one of those things. I ordered the Startown Slums(Link) from Battle Works Studios and had Rich and the gang paint them for me. Oh man are they nice! So what is the first thing I do? I call my Brother to come over for a quick 5150 scenario. :)

We are both newbies at 5150, but for our 4th game, we had a blast and it went pretty smooth.

The Lion's Den

The idea behind this scenario is that one of the Mars resistance leaders, who calls himeself The Lion, is said to be directing attacks against Earth Forces from the Xanthe Terra Slum. Notorius for Pirates, Outlaws and Gangers, this is one bad scene.. and The Lion is in there somewhere.

The Lion: Resistance Leader(My Target)

My Homeguard Platoon is heavily supported with HAMRs, so firepower is not a problem. The problem is that with all the unrest and public out cry(Free Mars!), we don't need a violent action. My mission is to find The Lion and bring him in and try not to start anything :)

My brother's mission is to stay alive for 3 rounds once we enter the slums and then get off the board.

We enter the slums and are immediately engaged by Gangers with a deathwish. This is a great stalling tactic because I am having a hard time searching the buildings.

And my Brother had a few tricks up his sleeve. He a couple of Free Company Space Pirates waiting to ambush my searchers. Becuase of the tight places and poor LOS, I had to becareful with the HAMRs. The Gangers were quick to engage and melee, knowing they were out gunned and there were alot of in-sight reaction checks.

Lucky for me, I found him as he was making a break for it. Unfortunately for him, my HAMR pilot had a itchy trigger finger. DAM THE ORDERS! I then paraded his body, strapped to my HAMR, back through the slum and then torched the place. Yea Earth Force!!

On a sad note, that HAMR pilot was summarily executed once he returned to base..

So, I went fishing this weekend...

... and forgot my camera.... which is ok, becuase I didn't catch a thing. We got some nibbles, but the brown trout were not biting. My wife had suggested we pack up and head to the Smoky Mountains for a weekend of fun, so I thought it would be a good time to get some fishing. I usually fish the Pigeon River.

It's very quiet and a great place just to get away.
Since the fish were not biting we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge. It has a huge water park that my daughter loved. We all had a great time.. .

Well, back to packing miniatures and getting orders out. I am have some new greens up soon!

5150: First Contact- A Snap Shot

Here's a pic from last nights 5150 game. I had more pictures but I messed up the disk :(

I was running 2 Homeguard Fire Teams with Titan Support and Recon HAMRs. I used the terrain and rubble alot to hide and "protect" my HAMRs. With a speed of 16, I could really pounce. :) I would like to tell you I won.. but the dice were not with me.

The terrain was created by Mongo, and it kicks ass!

Jeff and a few others have asked how the new Post Apoc guys and Gangers go with some of my older gangs. So a took a pic.

Man, you could have a really big gang if you wanted....

On another note, tonight I am in a big 15mm Stargate gate. My buddy Chuck comes up with some crazy scenarios, so it is always fun. The only thing he has told me is that my team, SG-6, is doing some RECON on Abydos after command lost contact with SG-8 (Jason's team). The Scenario he is doing is called BAD MOJO. We use modified 5150 rules and we'll be going up against Jaffa (Sahadeen) loyal to Apophis.***

I have a new pack coming out in a couple of weeks I wanted to share. John Bear Ross approached me with a cool idea, and I just had to do it. Here's the fluff and some pics!

The Industrial MacroGenetics Organic Combat Unit Model Nine

Currently, more than a hundred years after their initial introduction, detachments of artificially-grown troopers can be found in nearly every realm of human conflict. These bioengineered soldiers are known by their universal designation, the Model Nine. Defense mega-corporations maintain large stables of Nines, with vat-like organic printers ready to produce more at the push of a button. All throughout the solar system, the Model Nine is held up as the example of the ultimate expendable soldier, able to accomplish the mission without hesitation or mercy. While their legendary history is one of grim and quiet accomplishment in combat, a closer look reveals more behind the veneer of their renown.

As the 21st century reached its midpoint, the Baby Boomer and Generation X demographic groups faded into history, and Earth suffered what came to be known as the Great Population Collapse. Low birth rates among First World industrialized nations during the beginning of the century resulted in a “Youth Vacuum,” and many nations found themselves without enough able bodies to fill the ranks of their armed forces. Women were integrated into frontline combat units in the 2020s, and mandatory conscription was instated in the majority of the world’s various militaries, but to little avail.

Unmanned vehicles and man-sized robots were one answer. They proved vulnerable, though, to electronic warfare, jamming, and faulty software. An increase in low-level conflicts and asymmetric warfare made the use of expensive techno-weaponry and the First World’s fewer sons and daughters a cost too high to pay, especially in light of diminished returns. Something needed to be done.

A solution proposed by Industrial MacroGenetics, one of the larger biotech mega-corporations, was a manufactured organic combat unit. The same technology that had enabled organic tissues and organs to be rapid prototyped for transplants and other medical purposes also enabled a simplified human soldier to be grown in a matter of weeks. With some extensive modifications, IMG proposed that a better soldier could be made, not trained, for far less expense, and without putting real humans in harm’s way. The world’s civil rights organizations, major religions, and populations were horrified. The world’s militaries rejoiced.

In the year 2048, IMG unveiled the first, and ultimately most reliable, of the manufactured troopers. Various other companies and governments produced different versions and variations, but the IMG Model Nine proved to be the most efficient, stable, and combat-worthy example of a rapid-prototyped organic soldier. While IMG was able to deliver on the combat abilities of the Model Nine, their price per unit ended up quadrupling from the original target price, making the Nine able to be purchased and utilized by only the wealthiest of nations and companies.
To look at one from a distance, a Model Nine appears to be human, but something is “off.” You don’t know what pronoun to use when describing it, so “it” will have to do, since all genitalia and other sexual traits have been edited out. Nines can’t breed or copulate, nor do they have hormonal surges of excessive aggression or emotion.
The head is too small. The forehead slopes excessively, and the face is flat with the barest hint of a nose. Mentally, the IMG genegineers rigged the Nines be able to receive orders, follow them to the letter, and report back to command upon completion of the mission. They were also specially coded to follow only a designated platoon or team leader, usually a human officer who was trained to work with them. This ensured that the manufactured soldiers were capable of combat, but not rebellion. The baseline Nine model has the equivalent of an IQ of 85. Just enough to defend itself, take orders, and perform the mission, regardless of personal sacrifice.
Fear and questioning has been edited out. A Nine will assault any hill, attach a magnetic mine to any tank, fire into any crowd of civilians, as long as the right person is giving the orders. They are not suicidal, but simply programmed to obey, even at the expense of their own lives.
Initiative and abstract thought has been dialed back to be included in only the special command/law enforcement models. A Ninety Nine, or command version, is able to lead a squad or team, act as a human officer’s platoon sergeant, or write a traffic ticket. Ninety-Nines are even more expensive than standard models, but are a vital link in commanding manufactured troopers when officers are not available, or have been killed.
Like their designation, Ninety Nines test around the 99 IQ level, similar to a normal human. Greater empathy, initiative, and intelligence have been grafted into the 99s, and they are the most “normal” of IMG’s offerings. They can carry on a conversation in clipped, rudimentary phrases, evaluate an atypical situation, and can formulate attack plans and orders. 99s are the most susceptible to questioning orders, though, and are regularly screened for rebellious traits.
Physically, a Nine is tall, but the proportions are too lean to the human eye. Growing them in sub-Terran gravity fields, namely those in orbiting or colonial laboratories, also lends to the Nines’ lanky look. The average height of a Nine is around 6’4”, or 193cm, though they tip the scales around 210 pounds, or 95 kilos. The musculature is smooth, covered by a light layer of fat for energy storage and insulation, and toughened skin like a light leather coat. A Nine does not have a rib cage in the traditional sense, more of a fused rib “shell.” Their bones, especially the rib shell and skull, are tougher and more reinforced than normal humans, since the organic printing/manufacturing process lends itself to weaving in carbon polymers while the troopers is being grown.
Nines are built for movement under heavy loads, with broad shoulders and enough strength to surmount any battlefield obstacles they may encounter. They aren’t musclebound supersoldiers, though, since excessive muscle mass requires more logistical support in the form of nutritional resources. Nines can operate on a minimum of food and water, even if cut off from supply lines. IMG sells a fortified carb/protein foodstuff that looks like pelletized cat food. It is usually supplied in large bags such as those used for wheat or rice. This barely-edible mix has been labeled “Niner Chow” by human soldiers that have dared to taste it. Despite normal humans’ disdain for it, IMG sells a similar product to colonists and the military in powdered, dry bulk, and “wet” canned form. Nines are happy with whatever you put in front of them, as long as it’s semi-edible.
Customization is available, though it drives the price of a Nine even higher. Minor physical characteristics can be tweaked, mostly climatic adaptations such as dermal coloration or hair for insulation. Most clients settle for the base model Nine, which has stood the test of time in countless battles on dozens of planets and colonies. Their average service life is about thirty years, at which point they are often broken up for spare organic parts if an organic printer is not available to keep other Nines operational.

Nines have become fairly common wherever there is conflict, they are not the perfect solution to completely replace human soldiers. The expense of the organic printers needed to build and maintain the Nines has come down over the generations, but remains an intimidating investment, even a hundred years after their introduction. These costs are rather minor issues for the largest governments and wealthy corporations, but Nines are far more expensive than most poor settlements can afford. For many colonies that have more population than wealth, organic-born life is cheap, so they continue to utilize normal human soldiers, with varied results.

Religion also plays a role in limiting the use of Nines. There are many creeds and belief systems that forbid the artificial creation of life, considering it an abomination. Nines and other created beings are often outlawed on such planets. Some religious groups and theocracies are so vehemently opposed to organic constructs that the mere presence of such “aberrations” results in their immediate seizure and destruction.
When armed forces incorporating Nines are defeated, the victors will usually have the manufactured troopers destroyed. An advantage to the sophisticated coding of the Nines means the enemy cannot use them against their former owners. Specialists with expensive organic encryption gear have the ability to reprogram Nines, but the process is long and brutal, can only be done in laboratory conditions, and does not always result in a trooper with its former combat capabilities.

Freelance Human officers with Nines still coded to them are coveted assets. Some of these officers are survivors of decimated units. Others are thieves who have “appropriated” company assets. Rarely, a Command Ninety Nine will go rogue, and abscond with his band of Nines. Regardess of how he comes to possess them, a mercenary officer who commands Nines also commands top dollar for their use.
Most human soldiers view Nines with a begrudging respect. They call them a wide variety of names, from the respectful (“Rockribs,” “Synths”) to slurs (“Pinheads,” “Meatbots,” “Biobots,” and Dumb Ass CAnnon Fodder, or “DACAFs”). Most troopers just call them Nines. The Nines’ inability to yield or surrender, to have little to no sense of self-preservation, makes them a formidable foe, and human units that find themselves going into combat against manufactured troopers often draw double or more of their usual ammunition loads, since they will often need it.

To conclude, Nines should not be seen as cardboard, disposable assets. Rather, they are a sophisticated organic system that keeps a normal human out of harm’s way. In a solar system where life is becoming increasingly disposable in its own right, though, the costs of producing and maintaining Nines may ultimately be their undoing.

I am also working on some elite Fireteams and Squads for 5150: First Contact. I'll start the troopers next week, with a "Starship trooper" look to them, but I went ahead and started playing with some ideas for Heavy Support in an urban situation. Here's a Titan HAMR I have done.

This HAMR will be attached to a 5 man Homeguard Fireteam. It should work as an all purpose team.

Random Bits and Such

I get alot of emails from friends asking me what I am up to as far as the new stuff from Rebel. Usually, I have some greens or some designs on the table that I get excited about posting. I do have some new stuff to show, but because work has been rough this week, I decided to take a break and do something different.
My Dad and Brother asked me to go Turkey hunting last weekend, so I left the Rebel stuff to head out in the wilderness. Boy, we had a good time! As you can see, I got my Turkey :)

I also took the time to get some painting in on an Earth Force RusFed spearhead group. This is the EF RusFed 116th. Jason and I are playing some big battle campaigns on Mars and the Russian Federation has sent some forces in to protect its' interests from the Saltol Cel of the Sahadeen. Fun Stuff!

My stuff doesn't look as good as Jeffs', that is why I get him to paint the product shots. Also, Jeff made that hanger board.

I do have a pretty cool shot of a new vehicle coming up. John Bear Ross designed this recon buggy and we are casting masters now. It's called the Gila and it will have drivers and gunners for both Sahadeen and Earth Force. I think it looks bad ass!

Well, I should have some pretty exciting stuff to show you guys this week, so stay tuned. I am off to paint a couple of fire teams for THW 5150.

Post Apocalypse Greens

We have had alot of requests for Post Apoc stuff, so I started thinking about who I would like to sculpt them. I called my old buddy Bobby Jackson (Bobby did the Leonidas and Spartans for us in 28mm) and asked him what he thought about the project. He was up for it and so we started coming up with some ideas.
The first 2 packs we are releasing in this line are the Post Apoc Paramilitary group and the "Gangers". We have not thought of any clever names yet, but we are working on them.

First up is the Paramilitary pack:

This is basically a rag-tag group of Ex-Military trying to survive in the hostile world after the great Apocalypse. 12 in a pack.

Next we have the Gangers pack.

This pack is full of crazies... You got hockey masks, mohawks, bikini briefs.. This spack is a snapsot of some of the gangs harrassing unlucky survivors after the Apocalypse. 21 in a pack.

Both of these packs were done by Bobby and I really like them. Now I know what you are thinking, what system will I use these in? I am glad you asked. These packs and alot of our horror packs will be perfect for the Two Hour Wargames new post Apocalyptic game After the Horsemen. Here's the cover:

New Titan Heavy Weapons Greens

So, I got some pictures today I thought I would share. These are some WIP greens of the new Titan Marine Heavy Weapons team. First up, Titan Marine with Missile Launcher:

Pretty Cool, huh? I expect to have these ready in about 2 weeks.
I also got a chance to take a picture of the metals of the 15mm modern Biker Gang. Sorry for the crappy picture. I hope to have them available next week. There are 5 in the "gang". They are armed with Shotguns, pistols, chainsaws and chains. There are 2 different Bike styles. Martin sculpted the men and John did the motorcycles. Awesome stuff!

Getting the Mass Effect

So I just got these pics in and I had to share them. One of our customers, Eddie, said he had painted his Earth Force Infiltrators in a Mass Effect scheme. Since Mass Effect is one of my favorite games, I was excited when they showed up in my inbox. Take a look:

Painted Titan HAMR Mk.I

I have to say it! Jeff has done it again! I just got these pictures in from Jeff and they are amazing! I asked him to paint these base models and I was floored how they turned out. Here are some of the Shots:

HAMR Sprues/Bits Sneak Peak

Most of you know I have been talking about Sprues for a HAMR suits since we released them. Well, I just got some photos of the sprues and I thought I would share. We don't have any pricing yet, but I hope to have them released soon. John did a kick ass job on these, so I am really excited about getting these on the table. So here we go..

Earth Force HAMER Sprues

Here is a nice bits/parts sprue for the EF HAMR. The first piece on the left is a connector bit that mounts on top of the EF suit and holds the 3 missle system piece from the Gunship. Almost all of our Sci-Fi line is compatible and modular. John and I designed it that way.. well, John did, I just approved it. The next piece is a flamer unit that mounts on either arm. The Combat knife is a nice bit for deco or for conversion, as is the Rifle.

Here is a set of arms with 2 supression guns/lasers that mount on the forearms. It can be used for the TITAN HAMR as well.

Here is another set of arms with a nice modular shoulder bit. This shoulder piece will allow you to mount the large Laser from the Gunship, the Gatling-gun and a few other pieces. Sort of like this:

Also, most of these will work on the Titan HAMR as well. And speaking of the Titan Sprue.

Titan HAMR Sprue

Here is the Titan sprue. Basically, you have a Big Laser cannon, a Katana bit and a Missle Rack that mounts on the top. One build could look like this:

But like I said, there are alot of ways you could "Kit out" your HAMR.

Sneak Peek of the 6mm Sci-Fi line

I have had some people asking about our upcoming 6mm line, so I thought I would throw up a sneak peek or two. Below is a look at the 6mm Earth Force line. All of these were sculpted by master talent John Bear Ross.

Right now, the Sahadeen, as Martian insurgents, don't have any vehicles. Luckily, the Titan Marines have come prepared for battle. This is a look at the new Titan Marines Grav Tank Assault Force in 6mm.

We are working on molds and coming out with a release schedule, so I am hoping to launch this line sometime early summer. We will also have packs of 6mm scale infantry for most of our factions. I hope to have more info soon.

Titan Marine Madness!

most of you know we have already released the Titan Marine infantry pack. Over the last couple of weeks we have been getting some great photos in and I thought I would share them. The following are by Jeff Racel. He designed a great Desert and Woodland pattern for the Marines!

The next set of pics I just got in were painted by Agis Neugebauer (http://www.adpublishing.de/ ). Agis has been working working on Japanese Supersoliders for a Gear Krieg book he is writing for Dream Pod 9. We have reached an agreement to use the Titan Marines as their weird WWII Japanese Supersoldiers in the book. As you may have noticed, We have added alot of new Sci-Fi items to the site. We have alot more coming up and some other sci-fi surprises!
I am also excited to announce that we are also working on some new projects with Ed over at Two Hour Wargames. One of those project is All Things Horror, take a look...
